Canoeing in the Gauja National Park

The Gauja is the most beautiful river in Latvia, with an impressive river valley that is up to 80 metres in depth. Mighty sandstone cliffs rise above the river. The Gauja is a calm river, with just a few small rapids. Leisure boating is perfect here. Between Valmiera and Sigulda, the Gauja flows through the Gauja National Park, which was the first national park in Latvia (established in 1973). There are 20 well-appointed facilities for boaters on the banks of the river, with benches, tables, places for campfires, firewood, information stands and maps. Alongside the Gauja river, there are roads and paths from Valmiera to Sigulda, and the route is manageable on foot or by bicycle, too (see the bicycle route Cēsis to Valmiera).

SEA-KAYAKING TRIPS (primarily in summer)

Estonia provides thanks to its great number of islands and diverse coastline excellent opportunities for sea-kayaking.
Once there was an active village life in Estonian islands but then the islands were closed by the Soviet Union border guard for many years. Today it is possible to find signs of both villages and military activities; beautiful and unique nature has been preserved throughout the years.
Since kayaking requires a lot of knowledge and skills we organise the trips only with tour guides who provide you with instruction, accompany the group during the whole tour and provide information about local nature and culture.

All packages include instruction and kayaking equipment; one and two day tours also include meals. Every tour is guided at least by two instructors.

Rafting and canoeing

We have white water event in Estonia! During the high water seasons you can find white water rivers in Estonia because of our North-Estonian limestone cliff that are similar to mountain rivers.
We arrange rafting trips on rivers in Northern Estonia: Pirita, Jägala/Jõelähtme and Purtse river.

In the course of several 10-minutes rafting rides you will experience the feeling, as if you were rafting for real on a foaming mountain river. Between the rides and at the end of the rafting you can warm yourself up in a bus-sauna and get energy from camping food. Rafting is perfect to fill the evenings of working days with extreme experiences.

Baltic rivers are not straight ditches, as is the case in some other places in Europe. They twist and turn through the countryside and have never been redirected. Perhaps you'll find a fallen tree or a beaver dam, and then you'll have to carry the boat for a while. That should make your trip even more attractive.
All routes present scenic landscapes and nature sites as they cross protected nature areas. There are several hundred kilometers of river to be explored in the Baltics.
